fall perspectives

Christmas approaches and most of the leaves around here have finally released from their branches!  That means they are likely piled up on your roof and in your gutters.  Now's about the time you really wish you had picked up those gutter guards you thought about after the last gutter cleaning.  If you haven't by now, it's too late for this year, but you might think about getting some for next year and having them installed now.  True View doesn't sell the screens, but can install them for you for a small charge with a gutter cleaning.

When leaves are allowed to pile up unchecked in a gutter system, a series of bad consequences begins to materialize.  First your downspouts will clog up with leaves.  This clog only becomes thicker and more complete as time adds more leaves and roof sand to the blockage.  This blockage in turn causes your gutter to back up with water, spilling over your gutters in hard rains and freezing and forming an ice layer in the bottom of your gutters on cold days.  See the illustrations to the right:

It's important to get your gutters unclogged with each season, because ice and water build up over time will damage your gutters and eventually your home.  If you are uncertain of the condition of your gutters, give us a call and let us inspect them for you.  The inspection will be free and you can decide how you want to proceed from our recommendation.

People don't realize how much money you'll save when you get your gutters cleaned a few times a year. Choosing not to can be really damaging to your home!

The stormy season is coming, and my dad wants to make sure that our home is ready. It was discussed here that most of the leaves around the house will be surrounding the house. Furthermore, it's advisable to hire professionals for quality gutter repairs.

That's good to know that leaves can clog up your downspout so it won't work anymore. We had rain yesterday but I never saw any water come from the downspout so I'm trying to figure out why. I know we haven't cleaned any leaves out of the gutter so I'll have to find a service that can come and clean it out before the clog gets bigger and so our downspout will work again.

My dad noticed that our gutters are filled with dried leaves and want to make sure that everything will be clean for winter. It was explained here that the clog of leaves will only be thicker as it adds up. Moreover, it's recommended to hire professionals for quality gutter cleaning.

You make a great point about how leaves can back up your gutter system and cause clogs. I can't remember the last time I had my gutters cleaned so I might need to do that this year. I don't want to risk having them clog and cause damage to my roof.

I like how you explain the importance of making sure that the gutter is neat and tidy especially when the winter months come around since leaves that tend to pile up in the gutter system tend to cause disastrous consequences when left untouched and uncleaned. The first and most obvious thing is when leaves start coming out of the storm drain and more leaves add onto the thickness of the blockage of the rain gutter which can cause it to back up with water if left unattended long enough. Now that I know what to watch out for, it's time to climb up onto the roof and clear out all the fallen leaves atop it!

I think my gutters are clogged up. It would be good to get them cleaned out. The leaves in there won't allow water to drain properly.
